10 Things To Do Before I Turn 40

Well at the begining of July, I turned 30, which got me thinking about the next 10 years, which lead me to this list:

1. Finish Masters Degree in Counseling

2. Lose 30 pounds (and keep it off)

3. Quit "temporary" job (technically did this yesterday [7/26/10], but still wanted it on the list to get me started right)…

Prairie Rainbows

Somewhere over the rainbow...

How can we speak of a rainbow

without having witnessed it on the open prairie?

Its full expanse framed by the endless sky and gentle land

Its slight glimmer reflected in the waves of golden tall grass

The hint of rain clouds scattered by the overwhelming pleasure of the colored light

Somewhere over that rainbow

a little girl soars with eagles

a…

Changing the World Starts in the Little Things...

Looking back at the last 30 years of my life, I realize I have a long ways to go before reaching my ideal me. When I was a kid, I wanted to fight injustice. I wanted to stand when all else was failing. When I was a teenager, I wanted to find strength to survive. My own injustices stopped me from caring about others and their issues. In college, I wanted to dream big and conquer the world. I felt that if I could escape Nebraska, I could forget my issues and live the life I wanted as intended by… Continue

Naming a Thing

Why is it so important to name a thing? In ancient Mythology, naming an adversary strips that opponent of power. I believe that naming a thing gives you authority and purpose. The “real” name should tell its story, should hold history and honor its past. To name a thing brings truth to its spirit.

A name prophesies over the life and God’s purpose for the soul. As a life changes, so should its name. God changed the names of many influential… Continue

I am thankful for Mom sick days

Mom takes a sick day.

After having a tooth pulled on Monday, I was not feeling well. It wasn’t really the pain, but the disturbance in my mouth truly infuriated my body. I was lethargic and nauseas. Monday night my two beautiful rambunctious boys were home alone with me. I not even wanting to get off the couch, let them eat whatever they wanted and watch whatever they wanted (from the prescreened movies available in their room). I made them sandwiches for supper, which of course they… Continue

7 UPs

As a child, I would often play 7up in school. I always enjoyed the game immensely. I came across these 7UPs and just had to share them!

2. Dress Up!

The best way to dress up is to put on a smile. A smile is an inexpensive way to improve your looks.

The Invitation

The Invitation By Oriah

It doesn’t interest me what you do for a living.

I want to know what you ache for

and if you dare to dream of meeting your heart’s longing.

It doesn’t interest me how old you are.

I want to know if you will risk looking like a fool

for love

for your dream

for the adventure of being alive.

It doesn’t interest me what planets are squaring your moon...

I… Continue

Put in the Big Rocks First

Put in the Big Rocks First

One day an expert in time management was speaking to a group of business students and, to drive home a point, used an illustration those students will never forget. As he stood in front of the group of high powered overachievers he said, "Okay, time for a quiz."

He pulled out a one-gallon, wide-mouthed Mason jar and set it on the table in front of him. Then he produced about a… Continue

A Vision for Your Finances

One of the number one things families struggle with is money. Last week I read this article and was inspired to be more for my family when it comes to money. It is also written that we perish for lack of knowledge. Let's not be those moms who perish simply because we didn't know.

God Has a Plan for Your Finances

By: Lisa Comes

Money is a resource and gift given to us from God. Like water, wind or electricity, money can work in profitable ways when… Continue

No Time for the Gym? Go Out and Play!

Why Play Pays Off

Who wouldn't want to hit a chaise lounge, sip a fruity drink, and kick back while the kids run around? But don't get too comfortable. You can burn major calories just by playing outside as a family.

"Even short bursts of exercise can help you lose weight and lower your blood pressure and cholesterol," says Stephen Daniels, MD, PhD, spokesperson for the American Heart Association. Even better, if you're active,… Continue

Some Parts Are Not For Sharing!

Please go to this link. All mom's need to be aware of the best way to tell your children where they can be touched and where they cannot be touched. I myself was a victim of childhood sexual abuse for the first 13 years of my life. I wish I had understood this at a very early age, maybe things could have beed different. But that is neither here nor there, I want you to make a difference in your childrens'… Continue

Quotes to inspire!

I am unsure where most of these came from, but they all made me take a deeper look within myself & my world.

" Physical healing is temporal but God's grace is eternal. Given the choice, I would choose God's grace every time."

" This too shall pass by."

" Keep on being a blessing. Share yourself, for you're a blessing to others. Feed others, not only with what money can buy, but feed and nurture their hearts with God's love. The happiest… Continue

The 5-Second Discipline Fix

The 5-Second Discipline Fix

By Diane Debrovner

If you want your kid to wash his hands, pick up his trains, or give his sister's tiara back, don't ask -- tell.

The Friendly Approach to Discipline

Let's face it: If you had a dollar for every time you wanted your child to do something, paying the bills would be painless. You need him to listen up so you can make it through the day -- and keep your home from becoming a total disaster zone. Yet, like most… Continue

Babe In Total Control of Herself

Uncomfortable subjects arouse questions that define who we are. Let us not fear these unnerving ideals, but instead use them to embrace our destiny and identify our true spirits.

BITCHOLOGY

When I stand up for myself and my beliefs, they call me a bitch.

When I stand up for those I love, they call me a bitch.

When I speak my mind, think my own thoughts or do things my own way, they call me a bitch.

Being a bitch means I won't compromise what's in my… Continue
